Sergio Krakowski's pandeiro-oriented software development projects Posted November 26 Along with playing and teaching, Sergio Krakowski, the 26 year old pandeirista from Rio, continues work on his PhD in mathematics and computer music. He is currently working on software which enables computer generated sounds to respond to rhythms he plays on the pandeiro - in real time! Pandeiro.com now selling plastic-head pandeiros ("pandeiros de nylon") Posted November 25 After over two years of selling only natural skin-head pandeiros we've decided to add handmade plastic-head pandeiros to the site as well. One of our featured luthiers, and one of Rio's top samba percussionists, Marcelo Pizzott, has been making a plastic-head model for sometime now ... and now it's available on this site. This pandeiro is quite popular among the professional samba community here - for example, he's made them for each of the percussionists in Zeca Pagodinho's band. This pandeiro is light for a plastic-head pandeiro and great for live or recording. Check out the Shop page to take a look and hear an audio sample. Three new TV interviews with pandeiro.com founder Scott Feiner now available online Posted November 24 These three Brazilian TV interviews are all in Portuguese and Scott discusses his move to Brazil, the creation of pandeiro.com, his documentary, and his ideas behind his CD "Pandeiro Jazz". They also have images from a show in NYC, some live duo playing during the interview ... and even an old clip of Jackson do Pandeiro! Check them out at http://www.scottfeiner.com/tv.htm Pandeiro Jazz - tour opportunities for 2007 Posted November 24 This is an attempt to use the pandeiro.com "network" to make some things happen for Scott Feiner's innovative "Pandeiro Jazz" project. Scott plans to play more shows in Brasil during 2007, but would also like to bring the project other parts of the world, with the foucs being on Europe, Japan and the US. Along with performances, he's interested in offering pandeiro workshops, and the other members of the group (guitar, saxophone and bass) would be available for this as well. In total, he gave workshops in 12 cities, across 5 countries to over 150 students. These workshops were co-produced by pandeiro.com with the great help of local organizers, without whom, this would not have been possible. Pandeiro.com would like to send a BIG THANK YOU to all of those involved. And of course, to all of you who attended the workshops! We've received a lot of emails from people all over Europe telling us how much they enjoyed the classes.
