Tamburi Mundi Framedrum Festival 2008
First established in 2006, the annual Tamburi Mundi has developed into one of the most important festival for frame drums world-wide. Taking place from 5th -10th of August 2008 in Freiburg in the Southwest of Germany, Tamburi Mundi brings together the most diverse frame drum worlds and cultures. In a unique atmosphere characterised by the fascination of frame drums, musicians from all over Europe, Asia and America meet to make music together and to deepen their own knowledge and musical skills in an exchange. In workshops and concerts, various frame drums are introduced in traditional as well as in contemporary contexts, in genuine frame drum ensembles or in combination with other instruments.

This year, renowned frame drummers will meet in Freiburg as teachers in workshops and as resident artists in concerts. Beside the 2008 thematic main focus Turkey, music styles from Iran, Tajikistan, India, Brazil, USA, Italy, Ireland and Germany will again be represented. Marcos Suzano’s Pandeiro Special with advanced and Master classes completes this outstanding programme.
